I grew up in a house where the camcorder was always out and rolling. My dad filmed everything—Christmas mornings opening all our new gifts, the anticipation we had headed off to Disney world, and even the small mundane everyday stuff (which are my fav ), Like when I’d write a new storybook and he’d have me read it to the camera ——>

WHERE IT
As I got older, I started noticing even more of the quiet, meaningful moments he had captured—like my grandparents meeting me for the first time, my mom trying to teach me how to say my own name, and the moments that led up to my big sister becoming my best friend! . Looking back, it makes total sense that I ended up behind the camera too. I’ve always been super sentimental (maybe a little too sentimental), and I recently realized I mainly got that from my dad, who has hours of footage from our lives!
MEANINGFUL
Moments
In 2022, my mom asked me to turn my dad and her’s old wedding and honeymoon tapes into a highlight video for their 30th anniversary. I’d seen the tapes before, but getting to go back through and turn it into something shorter and sweet definitely was such a gift. Watching the beginning of my parents’ love story unfold in real time—grainy footage and all— All because my dad was so adamant on capturing those small moments amidst those significant life events.
In 2023, after both my grandma and grandpa passed, I had the chance to go through a collection of old family film—some of it dating all the way back to the 1930s—so that I could create highlight videos for their celebrations of life. It’s hard to put into words how much that meant to me. It was in that process that I realized my love for capturing memories didn’t just come from my dad—it went back even further, from my grandpa to my great-grandpa. I hadn’t really noticed before, but documenting life has quietly been a part of my family for generations.
Sure, the quality in some of these films isn’t the best—I mean what do you expect, some of it dates back to the early 1900’s—but I always say it’s not about the quality, it’s about the sincerity of the moment. It’s the interactions you get to witness between your closest family and friends—the laughs, the tears, the goofiness. Every time I hear my grandma’s voice on film, I tear up and every time I see my grandpa do his signature wave at the camera I can’t help but smile - And really, that’s what this is all about: remembering the people we love most exactly as they were, and the presence they left behind and are leaving behind amidst the places that they go.
I always say I’m probably one of the most sentimental people you’ll ever meet, and honestly, that’s my biggest drive for what I do—capturing moments that matter, even the ones that seem small at the time.
